Tourists from all around the world are familiar with the famous Castillo San Felipe del Morro. The fort, the cannon, the ocean view. It's a great tourist spot to visit, and a lot of history behind it. But let's say you have a kid who isn't the most fond of Caribbean colonial history...Now what?
Worry not! Here you'll learn what the most colorful castle in Puerto Rico is all about. However - you must be brave enough to leave the tourist area of San Juan. Think you can do it? Let's take a look!

Voilà!
More Info!
This is Castillo del Niño. This translates over to "The Kid's Castle". This castle is located in Guyanilla - right between Yauco and Ponce by the island's southern coast.

This castle is also close to a local museum and a youth sports complex. It may look like something straight out of a fairy tale, and that's the point! Castillo del Niño is actually a small amusement park, with a some mystery rooms, a couple of rides, and even a carousel in the back! To get a bit more of a sneak peak, check out my latest vlog!
Anyways, at the time of writing this article, the castle is, unfortunately, not open to the public. Puerto Rico was hit pretty hard by the pandemic, both from a tourism perspective as well as from an economic slowdown/shutdown perspective.
As such, many businesses were shut down. This castle is one of them. However, while the inside of the castle itself may be closed off, you can still drive up to the front of it and get some cool photos with the knight riding his horse in the front!
Also, if you're looking to get a drone for shots like I took in my vlog, check out the DJI Air 2S. That's the one that I have and I couldn't be happier with it!
