The Top Vital Equipment for Traveling Content Creators

So you want to start a travel blog or travel vlog, huh? Or maybe you just want to create some cool content while on the go. Either way, I've compiled a list of all the equipment I take with me to create content. Lets start off with the essentials.

The Essentials

Your Main Camera

First of all, a good camera is a must. If you had your mind set on anything in the DSLR world, let me stop you right there. While slightly pricier, nothing beats out mirrorless cameras in this day and age. My personal camera is the Nikon Z7. Click here to see it on Amazon!

There are many reasons and many pro/con lists out there between DSLR and mirrorless cameras, and pretty much all of them point to mirrorless leading the way into the future. Here are some pieces of content I shot on my Nikon Z7:

Your Vlogging Camera

One thing I'd like to point out about the Nikon Z7 and other mirrorless cameras is the lack of a flip-out screen. Therefore, some of these cameras might not be the easiest to vlog with. To solve this issue, I carry a secondary camera with me that I use exclusively for vlogging. Introducing the Sony ZV-1!

This cheaper, tiny, portable camera is nothing short of amazing, especially when you consider the price of it. Shooting 4K on a flip screen you can just put in your pocket is priceless. Check out my first of the Puerto Rico trip vlogs, all vlogged on the Sony ZV-1:

Next up on the list is a crucial piece of equipment that will absolutely change your game and production value. What could it possibly be?

A drone.

Yep.

Get a drone.

A Drone

My drone is the DJI Air 2S. This drone is a phenomenal piece of technology that will add in new angles and points of view, and will completely renovate your content.

The Air 2S incorporates smart technology to perform autonomous maneuvers and intelligent tracking modes to allow solo travelers and groups alike to showcase stunning scenery and content. The Air 2S has many of the similar features of the newest drones, and is getting cheaper as newer drones come out. I chose this drone because the marginal increase in performance doesn't justify the price increase, in my opinion.

The Add-Ons

Lenses

In this section, add-ons are the extra pieces of equipment that expand your inventory and help diversify your portfolio of possibilities. After all, you can't really use a mirrorless camera without a lens! I won't go too in detail on here about what lenses to use for what (maybe I'll make another post about that), but I'll just show you which ones I take with me everywhere I go:

*Disclaimer* Before you make any lens purchases, make sure they are compatible with your camera!

Next, let's take a look at the polarizers that I take with me everywhere I go!

Polarizers

Polarizers are super helpful in combatting glare, bringing colors out, and protecting your lens. The sizes that you get will depend on the size of your lenses. I only need two polarizers to fit all my lenses, and here they are!

Gimbal

Whenever I travel, I usually take my gimbal with me to take cinematic shots as well. I haven't been using it as much lately due to the nature of the content I've been working on, but I definitely make sure to pack it and bring it along. Here is the Zhiyun Crane!

There are several gimbals you can use. I prefer this one because it has a decently high weight limit for its price. If you like smooth content, make sure you check out this gimbal on Amazon here!

Tripod

Especially when traveling solo, it's pretty important to pack a tripod when you travel to get those Instagram shots. I personally carry a Manfrotto tripod, which you can check out on Amazon here: Tripod

With this collapsible tripod, it can fit right in your backpack and extend up way up to 65"!

Laptop

Last but definitely not least is a laptop. In the past, I've taken my laptop for the sole purpose of storing data from the cameras into a storage block. However, for the extended trips I'm planning on taking, I will definitely be using my laptop to edit and post while I'm on the go. Here is the Asus Tuf F15.

With this laptop, cloud uploads, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and many other pieces of software are super easy to handle while on the go. Click here to check it out on Amazon and read the specs: Click Here!
